Avril teased fans with the Daniel and Stavros story in the Loose Ends series and her group FB posting. And it was well worth it because she over delivers. Fans know the type of unrepentant hot alpha appalling bad boys that she brings to the table with MM “erotic mafia/cop genre.” While your conscience tells you to condemn them for what they have done, doing and will do, your heart says screw that.I thought I had my all time favorite series couple with Pablo and Dev in Sinner, Savior, but they have moved solidly to second place once I met D and S.Cartel boss Daniel Nieto prepares to torture, break and end the life of Stavros Konstantinou, the hired killer and member of a Greek mafia empire who took his wife, world and left him with painful internal and external wounds. When Stavros finds himself paying penance, chained, beaten, caged and enduring colorful showers, at Daniel’s command, he promises not only would he get out alive, but would make his captor pay in death, but not before getting on his knees and in his bed.With a twist of fate, Stavros is in a position to follow through on his vows and strong-arms Daniel to come to heel. I would be remiss if I didn’t mention how she genius-like invites us to share their pain and true motivations about the trials in life that have men them the men they are. And why they get each other. And the sex? There is a reason why D and S are now my series faves. She had me really digging on the sex warped stuff that had me questioning my sanity about loving it. But oh well.I also from the bottom of my heart appreciate the older characters in a romance/erotica book world that are difficult to find.Do I suggest reading the prior series if you are new to Avril’s work, starting with Brooklyn Sinners and then Run This Town? Hell yes! Necessity? No, but she suggests on her FB page starting with the Loose Ends Book and you will be good, but she does a good job “filling” you in in CTC.Call the Coroner was a Mother’s Day weekend treat for me. Five enthusiastic stars. When your world is set based off the love you have for your wife, you will do anything for her. So when Daniels wife is murdered, he wants nothing more than to take everything from the man that took everything from him.What Daniel doesn't expect is for Stavros to accept what he's given and not break. Stavros loves what Daniel gives and wants more. Wants all of it.The plans Daniel had change and hands are forced by other parties involved. Showing everyone the truth behind Daniel and Stavros. They may fight the pull but denial gets them nowhere.Decisions made, a war started, they fight for each other and the love neither of them expected.After all, how can a man fall for the man that murdered his wife?I absolutely loved this book and I am looking forward to the continuation of their story in Dig Your Grave. This isn't a book to pass up. The emotional turmoil between the two of them, especially Daniel, is something you deeply feel throughout. They both learn what it is to find the other half of your soul in the most unconventional ways. They learn that even though everything seems wrong, nothing else has ever been so right.
