I am sure I will not be the only one to write this same review. After owning all of the previous Grumpy Money books, this one unfortunately was a failure. This latest iteration is a complete departure from the previous books and their format. Before, we had full page illustrated drawings, which allowed for my child to fully take in the picture, its context, and the story; we now have a comic book format of multiple cells and a massively disjointed story.There was no ability to focus on the story, as it progressed extremely quickly through each cell. This gave no time for my child to grasp and appreciate what was going on before the page was flipped. This is only further exacerbated by the tiny size of the book; again a departure from the larger formats before. To make matters worse, on top of the rapid and disjointed story, they somehow thought it was a good idea to put pages of interjections in the story arc to talk about nonsensical things like DIY fruit meals, side informational stories about differences between primates, etc.I was trying to read this and be upbeat as possible, but even my son who just turned two, closed the book and said "no more, dont like it". I felt the same way!Please go back to the previous format which worked so wonderfully! This book, is an utter travesty. This book is really fun, my 3 year old is obsessed with it. It’s a lot longer than the other books and keeps him entertained. It has a comic book feel to it which is fun for a change. The only thing I’m not a huge fan of is my toddler yelling “papaya fight!!!” at bed time haha. Also, I like the size of the book. Its comfortable to hold and easy to take on the go.
